E.PE2

Parameter Storage Device Fault (Main Circuit Board)

Mitsubishi Electric · Mitsubishi FR-E800 Variable Frequency Drive

What does E.PE2 mean?

A critical fault has occurred in the inverter's main circuit board, specifically related to the storage of inverter model information. This indicates an internal memory corruption or hardware failure which prevents the inverter from identifying itself or its configuration. This is a severe internal fault requiring factory attention.

Common Causes

  • Internal corruption of the non-volatile memory (EEPROM/Flash) on the main control board storing inverter model and critical parameters.
  • Voltage transients or power supply fluctuations affecting the main circuit board's memory integrity.
  • Electromagnetic interference (EMI) causing data corruption during parameter read/write operations.
  • Physical damage or component degradation on the main circuit board's memory chip or surrounding circuitry.
  • Firmware incompatibility or internal checksum error detected during inverter initialization.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

    1. Cycle power to the inverter and attempt to reinitialize; observe if the fault persists immediately upon power-up.

  2. 2

    2. Attempt a factory reset of the inverter (e.g., Pr.77 set to 1) to clear all user parameters, then re-enter essential settings.

  3. 3

    3. Verify incoming AC line voltage stability (expected: within +/-10% of rated voltage) and check for proper grounding of the inverter chassis.

  4. 4

    4. Inspect the main circuit board for any visible signs of damage, burnt components, or loose connectors.

  5. 5

    5. If a backup of parameters is available (e.g., via software), attempt to write the parameters back to the inverter.
