#03
Invalid Modbus Data Format
Omron · MX2 Inverter RS-485 Connection Guide
What does #03 mean?
The Destination Device (inverter) reported that the data specified in the Modbus command is in an unacceptable format. This can occur when writing data that does not conform to the expected data type, length, or structure for the target register, resulting in the inverter rejecting the data.
Common Causes
- The data provided for writing to a register (e.g., in 'Write to Holding Register' function) does not match the expected format or data type of the inverter's register.
- The number of data bytes or words specified in the Modbus command is incorrect for the target register or coil.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Verify the data format and length of the data being sent in the Modbus write command. Ensure it aligns with the Destination Device's register specifications.
- 2
Refer to '8-9 Modbus Communication Data Lists' in the Multi-function Compact Inverter MX2 Series Type V1 User’s Manual (Cat. No. I585) to determine the expected data format for the target register.
