0203

Limit Inputs in Both Directions

Omron · SYSMAC CJ Series PLC

What does 0203 mean?

This fault indicates that an origin search cannot be initiated because both CW and CCW limit signals are being input simultaneously. This suggests a conflicting state where the system believes it's at both ends of its travel range at once, preventing any movement.

Common Causes

  • Cross-wiring or shorting between CW and CCW limit input signals.
  • Both limit switches are mechanically activated simultaneously due to mechanical fault or axis binding.
  • Incorrect 'Limit Signal Type' (NC or NO) configured in PLC Setup for one or both limit switches.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Inspect the wiring for both CW and CCW limit signals for any short circuits or misconnections between them.

  2. 2

Physically verify that neither the CW nor the CCW limit switch is actuated when the axis is not at its extreme travel limits. Manually move the axis if necessary to disengage them.

  3. 3

Access the PLC Setup 'I/O Module Tab Page' using CX-Programmer and verify the 'Limit Signal Type' setting (NC or NO) for both CW and CCW limits matches the physical switches.

  4. 4

Initiate an origin search again from the HMI or programming software.
