0204

Simultaneous Origin Proximity and Limit Inputs

Omron · SYSMAC CJ Series PLC

What does 0204 mean?

This fault occurs during an origin search when the origin proximity input signal and the limit input signal in the search direction are being input simultaneously. This indicates a contradiction where a proximity signal is detected at the same time as a hard limit in the direction of travel, potentially causing an emergency stop.

Common Causes

  • Miswiring of the origin proximity input signal or the limit input signal, causing incorrect signal detection.
  • Incorrect 'Origin Proximity Input Signal Type' or 'Limit Signal Type' (NC or NO) configured in PLC Setup for either sensor.
  • Mechanical interference causing both the origin proximity sensor and the limit switch to trigger simultaneously.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Inspect the wiring of both the origin proximity input signal and the limit input signal in the search direction for any short circuits, breaks, or incorrect connections.

  2. 2

Access the PLC Setup 'I/O Module Tab Page' using CX-Programmer and verify both the 'Origin Proximity Input Signal Type' and 'Limit Signal Type' settings (NC or NO) match the installed sensors.

  3. 3

Examine the physical mounting and alignment of the origin proximity sensor and the limit switch to ensure they cannot be triggered simultaneously under normal operating conditions.

  4. 4

Initiate an origin search again from the HMI or programming software.
