930

Motor field current does not increase to near rated amperes within 6 seconds.

Otis · DSD 412 Elevator System

What does 930 mean?

This fault indicates that the motor field current failed to reach near its rated amperes within 6 seconds during testing. This condition may occur during Self-Tune (Function #997) or Self-Diagnostic (Function #998) routines.

Common Causes

  • Motor field is not connected or has an open circuit.
  • Insufficient voltage available to achieve the rated field current (maximum Vdc output to motor field is 0.9 X Vac input at A3TB1, AC1 & AC2, dropping to 0.8 x Vac at -10% low line).
  • Improper settings for the connected motor field, including incorrect current tap at A3TB4, incorrect calibration switch A3S1 setting, or incorrect adjustments #49, #50, #52, and #55.
  • Faulty SCR/Rectifier power module for the motor field.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Verify motor field current with an independent clamp-on DC ammeter.

  2. 2

Check all motor field connections for continuity and proper installation.

  3. 3

If voltage is insufficient, reconnect the field windings for lower voltage (and higher current) or provide a step-up transformer for the motor field circuit.

  4. 4

Ensure that the proper current tap at A3TB4 is used, calibration switch A3S1 is set correctly, and adjustments #49, #50, #52, and #55 are accurate.

  5. 5

Replace the faulty SCR/Rectifier power module for the motor field.
