E-20
Excess Torque Boost Fault
Schindler · Altivar 212 Variable Frequency Drive
What does E-20 mean?
This fault is triggered when the [Auto Torque Boost] (F402) parameter is set too high or the motor impedance is too low, leading to excessive torque boost during operation or deceleration. It can also occur under specific deceleration conditions with Quadr. U/F control.
Common Causes
- Parameter [Auto Torque Boost] (F402) is set excessively high.
- Motor impedance is too low for the current settings.
- During deceleration, if [Mot cont. mode sel.] (Pt) = (1) [Quadr. U/F], the load current exceeds 88% of [Motor Current Limitation] (F601).
- Deceleration is too slow, specifically when [Max frequency] (FH) / [Deceleration time 1] (dEC) x 2 msec < 0.01Hz with Quadr. U/F control.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Repeat the auto-tuning procedure for the motor.
- 2
Reduce the value of parameter [Auto Torque Boost] (F402).
- 3
Set parameter [Auto ramp] (AU1) to (0) [Disabled].
- 4
Decrease the deceleration ramp by adjusting parameter [Deceleration time 2] (F501) and [Commut. ramp freq.] (F505).
