External Fault
Schneider Electric · Altivar 312 Variable Frequency Drive
What does EPF mean?
An external fault has been triggered, typically by a digital input signal from an external safety device or process interlock. This indicates a condition outside the drive's internal control that requires attention, such as an emergency stop, a limit switch activation, or another process safety interlock. The drive will stop operation to ensure safety.
Complete Troubleshooting Guide
- 1
Identify the specific external device or condition (e.g., E-stop button, safety guard switch, thermal switch) that activated the external fault input.
- 2
Check the wiring and functionality of the digital input assigned to the external fault on the drive.
- 3
Ensure the external safety circuit or interlock is in a safe and operational state, and reset it at its source if needed.
- 4
Verify the logic of the external fault input (e.g., normally open/closed) matches the drive's configuration.
