OLF

Motor Overload

Schneider Electric · Altivar 312 Variable Frequency Drive

What does OLF mean?

This fault indicates that the motor is drawing excessive current, exceeding its thermal protection limits. This can be caused by a mechanical overload on the motor or incorrect configuration of the motor's thermal current parameter (ItH) or stator resistance (rSC). Prolonged operation under overload can lead to motor winding damage or premature failure.

Complete Troubleshooting Guide

  1. 1

Check the mechanical load on the motor and ensure it is not excessive.

  2. 2

Verify the [Mot. therm. current] (ItH) setting (page 33) in the drive's parameters is correct for the installed motor.

  3. 3

Wait for the drive and motor to cool down before attempting to restart.

  4. 4

Remeasure the cold stator resistance and update the [Cold stator resist.] (rSC) parameter (page 42).
