Speed monitoring error
SEW Eurodrive · Drives
What does 08 mean?
A speed monitoring error has occurred. This fault is only active when DIP switch S2/4 is set to "ON" or when additional function 13 is active. It indicates a discrepancy in motor speed feedback or an unexpected speed condition.
Common Causes
- DIP switch S2/4 set to "ON" and an unexpected speed condition was detected
- Additional function 13 is active and a speed monitoring issue was detected
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Verify DIP switch S2/4 setting and activation status of additional function 13 in the drive's parameter settings.
- 2
Inspect motor encoder cable for damage, proper connection, and secure shielding at both the motor and drive ends.
- 3
Inspect motor and connected mechanical load for any signs of binding, excessive play, or obstruction that could lead to unexpected speed variations.
- 4
Verify all motor and encoder-related parameters in the drive (e.g., motor nominal speed, encoder resolution, feedback type) are correctly configured according to nameplate data and application requirements.
