A00590

Encoder feedback loss warning

Siemens · SINAMICS G120 Variable Speed Drive

What does A00590 mean?

This warning indicates a loss of signal from the motor encoder, potentially causing the inverter to switch to sensorless vector control. Causes range from physical disconnection or faulty encoder hardware to incorrect parameterization where an encoder is expected but not configured or selected, leading to imprecise speed or position control.

Complete Troubleshooting Guide

  1. 1

    Stop the inverter.

  2. 2

Verify the encoder is physically fitted and properly connected to the inverter, checking wiring between the encoder module and inverter.

  3. 3

Ensure the correct encoder type is selected in P0400; if r0949=5 and an encoder is fitted, configure P0400.

  4. 4

If no encoder is fitted and sensored control is not desired, select sensorless vector control mode (P1300=20 or 22) or set P0400=0.

  5. 5

Test the encoder's functionality by operating the drive at a fixed speed (P1300=0) and monitoring the feedback signal (r0061).
