8003
Active power limited derating
SMA · Sunny Boy Solar Inverter
What does 8003 mean?
The inverter has reduced its power output for more than ten minutes due to excessive internal temperature. This derating is a protective measure to prevent damage from overheating, impacting power generation capacity.
Common Causes
- Accumulation of dirt or debris on the cooling fins or air ducts, impeding heat dissipation.
- Insufficient ventilation around the inverter enclosure.
- Ambient temperature exceeding +40°C.
- Inverter exposed to direct solar irradiation, increasing internal temperature.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Clean the cooling fins on the rear of the enclosure and the air ducts on the top using a soft brush.
- 2
Verify the inverter's installation location ensures sufficient ventilation.
- 3
Measure and confirm the ambient temperature does not exceed +40°C.
- 4
Ensure the inverter is not exposed to direct solar irradiation.
