Brake chopper supervision

Vacon · NXS NXP AC Drive

What does 12 mean?

This fault indicates an issue with the brake chopper circuit, possibly due to a missing or broken brake resistor, or a failure of the brake chopper component itself. A malfunctioning brake chopper can lead to overvoltage faults during deceleration or prevent effective braking.

Complete Troubleshooting Guide

  1. 1

Verify that a brake resistor is correctly installed and connected.

  2. 2

Check the brake resistor for continuity and ensure it is not broken or open-circuited.

  3. 3

Inspect the cabling between the drive and the brake resistor.

  4. 4

If the resistor and cabling are confirmed good, the brake chopper itself may be faulty – contact the distributor.
