Ground Fault (Adv. Code 0)

Vacon · X4 AC Drive

What does 11 mean?

The drive has detected a current imbalance between its output phases, and this imbalance is determined to be current flowing to ground. This is a critical fault indicating a direct path to ground from the motor or motor cabling. It poses an electrical hazard, potential equipment damage, and could trip upstream protective devices.

Complete Troubleshooting Guide

  1. 1

Power down the drive and disconnect the motor leads (U, V, W) from the drive's output terminals.

  2. 2

Using a megohmmeter (megger), measure the insulation resistance between each motor phase and ground (motor frame) for both the motor and the disconnected cable. Expect readings typically >1 MΩ.

  3. 3

Inspect the motor cable for any signs of damage to insulation, chafing, or moisture ingress that could cause a ground fault.

  4. 4

Inspect the motor itself for any signs of internal winding damage or moisture ingress that could lead to a ground fault. Consider rotating the motor shaft during testing.
