Instantaneous Overcurrent Trip

Vacon · X4 AC Drive

What does 6 mean?

This fault indicates a short circuit has been detected, either during power-up or during normal operation. This is a critical fault indicating excessive current flow, often due to wiring issues or a faulty motor. Such a condition can severely damage the drive's power output stage if not immediately addressed.

Complete Troubleshooting Guide

  1. 1

Immediately remove power and inspect all power wiring for any short circuits or damage, paying close attention to the motor leads.

  2. 2

Check the motor windings and cables for any shorts using an insulation resistance tester (megger).

  3. 3

If no external shorts are found in the wiring or motor, consult the factory, as the drive itself may have internal damage to its power components.
