Output Fault (Overload, Short Circuit, Broken Wire)
Wago · PFC200 PLC
What does DIAG_BIT_1 (Channel S) mean?
A diagnostic bit (e.g., Diagnostic bit S for channels 1 through 8) is set to '1' for a digital output channel on modules 750-507 (-508), -522, 753-507, or 750-537. This indicates a general output fault condition such as an overload, a short circuit, or a broken wire affecting the respective output. The specific type of fault requires further investigation.
Common Causes
- Overcurrent condition on the output channel due to excessive load.
- Short circuit between the output terminal and ground or supply voltage.
- Broken wire in the connection between the output terminal and the load.
- Faulty load drawing abnormal current or having an internal short/open.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Disconnect the load from the affected output channel.
- 2
Measure the resistance of the load to check for open circuit, short circuit, or correct impedance.
- 3
Use a multimeter to check the wiring from the output terminal to the load for continuity and insulation to ground or other potentials.
- 4
Verify the current rating of the connected load is within the module's specified output current.
