Output Ground Fault
Yaskawa · F7 Drive
What does GF mean?
The Drive has detected an output grounding current exceeding 50% of its rated output current (L8-09 = 1 enabled), indicating a current leakage to ground. This is typically caused by a short in the motor leads, motor windings, or a defective internal current sensor. A persistent ground fault poses a safety risk and can lead to damage to the motor or Drive components.
Complete Troubleshooting Guide
- 1
Disconnect the motor from the Drive and attempt to run the Drive without the motor to determine if the fault is external (motor/cable) or internal (Drive).
- 2
Use a megohmmeter (megger) to check for a phase-to-ground short in the motor windings and the motor output cables.
- 3
Check the motor output cables for any damage or insulation breakdown that could cause current leakage to ground.
- 4
If the fault persists with the motor disconnected, consult with a qualified technician to verify the integrity of the Drive's internal DCCT (current sensors).
