PG Disconnection (Encoder Fault)
Yaskawa · VS-616G5 Variable Speed Drive
What does PGO mean?
This fault indicates a loss or disconnection of the Pulse Generator (PG) signal, which is used for speed feedback in closed-loop control modes. It signifies that the inverter is no longer receiving reliable motor speed information from the encoder. This will prevent accurate speed control and can lead to unpredictable motor behavior if not addressed.
Complete Troubleshooting Guide
- 1
Check all wiring connections between the PG (encoder) and the inverter for loose terminals, breaks, or damaged insulation.
- 2
Inspect the encoder itself for physical damage, contamination, or mechanical slippage on the motor shaft.
- 3
Verify the correct encoder type and pulse count settings in the inverter parameters.
- 4
Check the shielding of the encoder cable to prevent noise interference.
- 5
If possible, test the encoder output signals with an oscilloscope to confirm functionality.
