Device overtemperature shutdown
Bosch Rexroth · IndraDrive MPx02
What does F2018 mean?
This non-fatal error indicates that the IndraDrive MPx02 device itself has detected an overtemperature condition and initiated a shutdown to prevent damage. This is a protective measure when internal components, such as power semiconductors or control electronics, exceed their safe operating temperature.
Common Causes
- Insufficient cooling of the IndraDrive MPx02 (e.g., blocked heatsink fins, failed cooling fan).
- Ambient temperature around the drive exceeding specified limits.
- Drive overloaded, causing excessive heat generation in power components.
- Internal temperature sensor fault, giving an erroneous reading.
- Incorrect installation or mounting, leading to poor heat dissipation.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Check the cooling fan(s) on the IndraDrive MPx02 for proper operation. Clean any dust or debris blocking heatsink fins or air vents.
- 2
Verify that the ambient temperature in the control cabinet or mounting location is within the drive's specified operating range.
- 3
Reduce the load on the drive if it is consistently operating at or above its rated capacity. Check motor and application sizing.
- 4
Inspect the drive for proper mounting and sufficient clearance around its heatsink for adequate airflow.
- 5
Allow the drive to cool down. If the fault reoccurs immediately after cooling, an internal temperature sensor may be faulty, requiring service.
