A590

Drive HW initialization

ABB · ACS580

What does A590 mean?

The drive's hardware setup is in the process of initializing. This is a normal startup phase; however, if this warning persists, it might indicate a hang in the initialization sequence. This can prevent the drive from entering a ready state for operation.

Common Causes

  • Delayed response from an internal peripheral on the control board during startup.
  • A newly installed option module requires an extended initialization time.
  • Power supply fluctuations during startup causing intermittent resets of internal components.
  • Corrupted boot-up sequence in the drive's main firmware.
  • Faulty non-volatile memory preventing proper loading of startup parameters or boot code.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Power cycle the drive and observe the initialization sequence for persistence of the warning.

  2. 2

If any option modules are installed, power down the drive, remove them, then power on to check if initialization completes normally.

  3. 3

Measure incoming supply voltage to the drive's main terminals (L1, L2, L3) to ensure stability during startup.

  4. 4

Perform a firmware update to the latest available version from the manufacturer.

  5. 5

If the warning persists, this may indicate a fault with the main control board itself, requiring replacement.
