Option module comm loss

ACS880 · Spinning and Traverse Control Program Firmware

What does 7080 mean?

Communication between the drive and an installed option module has been lost. This fault can be caused by improper seating, physical damage to the module or its slot, or a malfunction of the module itself.

Common Causes

  • The option module is not properly seated in its slot, leading to an unreliable electrical connection.
  • The option module itself is physically damaged, faulty, or has failed internally.
  • The drive's option slot connector is damaged or has loose contacts.
  • Intermittent connection caused by vibration, dust, or environmental factors.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Power down the drive completely and check that all option modules are securely and properly seated in their respective slots.

  2. 2

Inspect the option module(s) and the drive's option slot connectors for any signs of physical damage, bent pins, or foreign material.

  3. 3

Attempt to re-seat each option module firmly to ensure a reliable electrical connection.

  4. 4

If multiple option modules or slots are available, try installing the modules into different slots one at a time to isolate a potentially faulty module or slot.

  5. 5

If the fault persists after re-seating and inspection, replace the suspected faulty option module.
