7081

Panel port communication

ACS880 · Spinning and Traverse Control Program Firmware

What does 7081 mean?

The control panel or PC tool, which is configured as the active control location for the drive, has ceased communicating. This is a programmable fault, influenced by parameter 49.05 (Communication loss action). The auxiliary code specifies the I/O port used for communication (0: Panel, 1: Fieldbus interface A, 2: Fieldbus interface B, 3: Ethernet, 4: D2D/EFB port).

Common Causes

  • Loose, disconnected, or damaged physical connection of the control panel or PC tool cable to the drive's port.
  • Damaged control panel cable, connector, or the control panel/PC tool itself is malfunctioning.
  • Incorrect communication parameters (e.g., baud rate, parity, address) configured between the drive and the control device.
  • A fault or malfunction specific to the I/O port identified by the auxiliary code (e.g., Panel port, Fieldbus interface A).

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Check the physical connection of the control panel or PC tool cable to the drive's port. Disconnect and firmly reconnect it.

  2. 2

Inspect the control panel cable and its connectors for any signs of damage, wear, or bent pins. Replace if necessary.

  3. 3

Verify that the control panel or PC tool itself is powered on and functioning correctly independently of the drive.

  4. 4

Check the auxiliary code to identify which specific I/O port (Panel, Fieldbus A, etc.) has experienced communication loss and focus troubleshooting on that interface.

  5. 5

Review relevant communication parameters (e.g., in parameter groups 50 for panel, 58 for embedded fieldbus) to ensure they are correctly configured for the active control location and communication method.
