73B0

Emergency ramp failed

ACS880 · Spinning and Traverse Control Program Firmware

What does 73B0 mean?

The drive tripped because the motor did not stop within the maximum allowed time for an emergency stop (mode Off3). This time is defined by parameter 31.33 (Emergency ramp supervision delay). When this fault occurs, bit 8 of parameter 06.17 (Drive status word 2) is set, and the drive coasts to a stop.

Common Causes

  • Emergency stop ramp-down time (parameter 31.33) is set too short for the application's inertia and load.
  • The mechanical braking system, if present, is insufficient or faulty, preventing the motor from decelerating adequately.
  • An external mechanical obstruction or excessive load is preventing the motor from stopping within the allowed time.
  • Incorrect settings in parameter 31.32 (Emergency ramp supervision) or parameter 31.33 (Emergency ramp supervision delay).

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Verify the mechanical load and inertia of the application to ensure it can decelerate within the configured emergency ramp time.

  2. 2

Check the setting of parameter 31.33 (Emergency ramp supervision delay) and increase it if necessary to allow sufficient time for mechanical stopping.

  3. 3

Inspect the motor and mechanical system for any binding, friction, or external forces that could impede deceleration.

  4. 4

If an external braking system or dynamic braking is utilized, verify its functionality and proper operation.

  5. 5

Ensure parameter 31.32 (Emergency ramp supervision) is correctly configured according to the application's emergency stop requirements.
