A582

Auxiliary fan missing

ACS880 · Spinning and Traverse Control Program Firmware

What does A582 mean?

An auxiliary cooling fan, typically connected to the control unit's fan connectors, is stuck or disconnected. The auxiliary code specifies which auxiliary fan (1 or 2) is affected. This warning can be generated even when fault 5081 (Auxiliary fan broken) is bypassed, for example, if parameter 31.36 (Aux fan fault bypass) is active during commissioning with the front cover removed.

Common Causes

  • The auxiliary cooling fan is physically stuck, obstructed, or has failed mechanically.
  • The electrical connection to the auxiliary cooling fan on the control unit is loose or disconnected.
  • The auxiliary fan motor has malfunctioned or is not receiving power.
  • The drive's front cover (which typically houses certain auxiliary fans in IP55 protected units) is removed, overriding the fault to a warning.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Identify the specific auxiliary fan affected by checking the auxiliary code (1 for Auxiliary fan 1, 2 for Auxiliary fan 2).

  2. 2

Inspect the identified auxiliary fan for any mechanical obstructions, debris, or damage. Manually check for free rotation.

  3. 3

Verify that the electrical connections to the auxiliary fan on the control unit are secure and properly terminated.

  4. 4

Check the auxiliary fan operation; if it does not rotate, replace the faulty fan unit.

  5. 5

Ensure the drive's front cover is correctly installed and tightened for normal operation, especially if parameter 31.36 (Aux fan fault bypass) is not intentionally active.
