A797

Speed feedback configuration

ACS880 · Spinning and Traverse Control Program Firmware

What does A797 mean?

The speed feedback configuration has either changed or is inconsistent. The auxiliary code (format XXYY ZZZZ) provides detailed information: 'XX' specifies the encoder interface module number (e.g., 01 for 91.11/91.12), 'YY' specifies the encoder (01 for 92 Encoder 1 configuration, 02 for 93 Encoder 2 configuration), and 'ZZZZ' indicates the specific problem (e.g., adapter not found, module type mismatch, logic/software version too old).

Common Causes

  • Encoder adapter module not found in the specified slot (aux code 0001), possibly due to incorrect physical installation or parameter setting (91.12 or 91.14).
  • Detected type of encoder interface module does not match the type specified in the parameter setting (aux code 0002), typically a mismatch between 91.11/91.13 and 91.02/91.03.
  • The logic version (aux code 0003) or software version (aux code 0004) of the encoder interface module is too old or incompatible with the drive firmware.
  • Physical damage or malfunction of the encoder interface module or its slot.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Check the auxiliary code (XXYY ZZZZ) to pinpoint the exact issue (e.g., '0001' for adapter not found, '0002' for module type mismatch).

  2. 2

If '0001 Adapter not found', verify the physical installation of the encoder interface module and confirm the slot assignment in parameter 91.12 or 91.14.

  3. 3

If '0002 Detected type of interface module does not match', compare the module type set in parameter 91.11 or 91.13 with the detected status in parameter 91.02 or 91.03 and correct any discrepancy.

  4. 4

For '0003 Logic version too old' or '0004 Software version too old', check for available firmware updates for the drive and the encoder interface module, and perform updates if recommended by ABB.

  5. 5

After any physical or parameter changes, use parameter 91.10 (Encoder parameter refresh) to validate the new settings and clear the warning.
