I1 Flash Failed

Allen-Bradley · PowerFlex 750

What does 10137 mean?

An attempt to flash the FPGA configuration device on port 1 has failed. This indicates a problem with the firmware update process, potentially leaving the device in an inoperable state.

Common Causes

  • Interruption of power (e.g., sag, complete loss) during the FPGA flashing process on Port 1, leading to a corrupted firmware image.
  • Incompatible or corrupted firmware file used for the update attempt on Port 1, not matching the specific FPGA device or board revision.
  • Failure of the JTAG interface, SPI bus, or other programming interface used to communicate with the FPGA on Port 1 (e.g., broken traces, faulty connector).
  • Hardware defect on the FPGA chip itself or its supporting memory components on Port 1 (e.g., bad sector in configuration memory).
  • Improper software tool or incorrect settings (e.g., wrong baud rate, incorrect device ID) used during the flash operation for Port 1.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

    1. Verify the drive's input power supply is stable and within specified voltage limits (e.g., 400VAC +/- 10%) before attempting any firmware update.

  2. 2

    2. Obtain the correct and verified firmware file specifically for the drive model and revision, then re-attempt the flash procedure for Port 1.

  3. 3

    3. Check the integrity of the programming cable (e.g., USB, Ethernet, JTAG) and ensure it is securely connected between the PC and the drive's programming port for Port 1.

  4. 4

    4. Confirm the version and compatibility of the flashing software tool, ensuring it is the recommended version for the target firmware and hardware on Port 1.

  5. 5

    5. Inspect the FPGA component and surrounding circuitry on the Port 1 board for any physical damage, discolored pins, or signs of overheating.
