10234

I2 UBrd Fault

Allen-Bradley · PowerFlex 750

What does 10234 mean?

The power supply on the U-phase gate driver board has failed. This affects the control of the U-phase output and can lead to motor malfunction or drive damage.

Common Causes

  • Malfunction of the auxiliary power supply circuit dedicated to the U-phase gate driver on Port 2.
  • Overcurrent condition on the U-phase gate drive output due to a shorted gate-emitter junction of an IGBT or a faulty gate resistor.
  • Internal defect in the U-phase IGBT module on Port 2, creating an excessive load on its gate power supply.
  • Aging or manufacturing defect in the power supply components (e.g., inductors, diodes, voltage regulators) on the U-phase gate driver board for Port 2.
  • Loose or corroded connector pins between the main board and the U-phase gate driver board (Port 2), disrupting power delivery or signal integrity.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

    1. Power down the drive and check the DC voltage output of the U-phase gate driver board's local power supply for Port 2 (typically 15VDC or 18VDC) at specified test points.

  2. 2

    2. Perform a thorough visual inspection of the U-phase gate driver board (Port 2) for any obvious physical damage, discolored components, or cold solder joints.

  3. 3

    3. Isolate and measure the resistance values of the U-phase IGBT gate-emitter terminals on Port 2 (drive powered off, DC bus discharged) to identify potential shorts or open circuits.

  4. 4

    4. Verify all internal wiring and ribbon cable connections to the U-phase gate driver board for Port 2 are firmly seated and free from damage or corrosion.

  5. 5

    5. If external cooling fans or heat sinks are present on the U-phase output stage, ensure they are clean and functioning correctly to prevent thermal stress on components.
