AutClrFltExhaust

Allen-Bradley · PowerFlex 750

What does 34 mean?

This fault indicates that the drive has exceeded the configured number of auto-clear fault retries (P338 [AutoClrFlt Tries]) without successfully clearing a persistent fault while the drive was in a stopped state (provided P347 [Auto Retry Fault] bit 1 is set). This means automatic attempts to clear a fault have failed, and the drive remains non-ready, requiring manual diagnosis and correction of the original fault condition.

Common Causes

  • A persistent, non-critical fault (e.g., 'Motor Overload', 'Fan Fault') that repeatedly occurs while the drive is stopped.
  • P338 (AutoClrFlt Tries) is set to an insufficient number, exhausting retries before the condition can resolve itself.
  • The underlying cause of the 'auto-clearable' fault is not resolving, indicating a deeper issue (e.g., blocked fan).
  • Parameters related to the auto-clear fault (e.g., P337 [AutoClrFlt En]) are enabled inappropriately for the application.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

    1. Identify the *specific fault* from the drive's fault history (e.g., 'A1-00') that the drive attempted to auto-clear.

  2. 2

    2. Manually clear the 'AutClrFltExhaust' fault and observe if the underlying 'auto-clearable' fault immediately re-occurs.

  3. 3

    3. Investigate and resolve the root cause of the specific auto-clearable fault (e.g., inspect motor cooling fan, reduce load).

  4. 4

    4. Verify the setting of P338 (AutoClrFlt Tries) and P339 (AutoClrFlt Delay) to ensure they are appropriate for the application.

  5. 5

    5. If the underlying fault is genuinely intermittent, consider increasing P338 to allow more retry attempts before exhausting.
