The Synchronous Serial Interface (SSI) transformation performed by the FOX 50 module was either faulty for several NC cycles or failed to complete. This indicates a problem in reading or converting data from SSI encoders, leading to inaccurate or missing position feedback and ultimately affecting axis control.
Click steps to track your progress.
1. Perform continuity and insulation tests on the SSI cable (Clock+/-, Data+/- on X5-1 to X5-4) for opens, shorts, or insulation breakdown.
2. Use an oscilloscope to check the SSI Clock and Data signals (e.g., on terminals X5-1 to X5-4) for signal integrity, noise, and correct timing.
3. Swap the FOX 50 module with a known good unit to determine if the hardware module is the source of the transformation fault.
4. Verify the SSI data format parameters (e.g., P8-01, SSI Data Bits; P8-02, SSI Code Type) match the specifications of the connected SSI encoder.
5. Ensure proper grounding of the SSI cable shield (e.g., at terminal X5-GND) and physical separation from power cables to minimize EMI.
