Beckhoff · TwinCAT 2 NC
The drive does not recognize its assigned axis, or the axis address has not been properly initialized. This prevents the drive from establishing correct communication and control with its corresponding virtual axis within the NC system. As a result, the drive cannot receive commands or provide feedback for coordinated motion.
Click steps to track your progress.
Power down the drive and verify the physical DIP switch settings for the axis address (e.g., on the drive front panel) match the intended Node ID.
Connect to the drive using commissioning software and confirm the axis address parameter (e.g., P0-02) is correctly set and saved to non-volatile memory.
Check the network configuration of the PLC/motion controller to ensure no other device on the bus is assigned the same axis address.
Inspect the communication cable (e.g., Ethernet, RS-485) between the drive and the controller for damage, proper termination, and secure connections.
Perform a network scan from the PLC/master controller to detect all connected devices and their assigned addresses, comparing with expected values.
