S-0-0011 Bit 11

Excessive Position Deviation

Indramat · dds 2.1 digital servo drive User Manual

What does S-0-0011 Bit 11 mean?

A Class 1 Diagnostic indicating that the actual position of the motor significantly deviates from the commanded target position by more than an allowed tolerance, leading to a drive shutdown. This implies the motor is not following its commanded profile accurately or has encountered an obstruction. The drive decelerates to zero speed and shuts down torque. This condition is reset only after the cause is cleared and the command 'Reset Class 1 Diagnostics' is received via the service channel.

Common Causes

  • Mechanical binding, obstruction, or excessive friction in the driven load preventing the motor from reaching its commanded position.
  • Incorrectly tuned position loop gains (P, I, D) in the DDS 2.1 drive, leading to poor tracking performance.
  • Insufficient motor torque or acceleration capabilities for the commanded motion profile.
  • Faulty motor feedback (encoder/resolver) or loose mechanical coupling between motor and feedback device.
  • Excessive load inertia that the motor cannot overcome efficiently.
  • Position window (e.g., P-0-0097 Absolute Encoder Monitoring Window, P-0-0098 Maximum Model Deviation) is set too narrow for the application.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Inspect the mechanical system for any binding, obstructions, or excessive friction that could impede motor movement.

  2. 2

Verify that the motor and drive are adequately sized for the inertia and torque demands of the application.

  3. 3

Retune the position loop gains of the DDS 2.1 drive to optimize tracking performance; consider using auto-tuning features.

  4. 4

Check the feedback device (encoder/resolver) for proper mounting, wiring, and signal integrity.

  5. 5

Review the drive's position monitoring parameters (e.g., P-0-0097, P-0-0098) and adjust them if they are set too restrictively for the application.
