HEAT SINK TEMPERATURE Ax

Axis Heat Sink Overtemperature

Kuka · KR C2 Robot Controller

What does HEAT SINK TEMPERATURE Ax mean?

An overtemperature condition has been detected on the heat sink of the servo drive module for the specified axis (Ax). This indicates inadequate cooling or excessive load on the axis.

Common Causes

  • Ambient temperature in the cabinet is too high.
  • Insufficient cooling for the drive's heat sink (blocked vents, fan failure).
  • Drive operating at peak load for extended periods.
  • Oversized motor or drive operating inefficiently.
  • Faulty temperature sensor on the heat sink (P6-01).

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Check the cabinet cooling circuit and fans for proper operation and airflow.

  2. 2

Reduce the load on the affected axis by decreasing the Override (OVR) setting in the robot program.

  3. 3

Reduce the velocity for the affected axis using the `$VEL_AXIS` parameter.

  4. 4

Reduce the acceleration for the affected axis using the `$ACC_AXIS` parameter.
