Connection between PLC and device could not be established

Kuka · ProfiNet Controller/Device 3.1

What does 11006 mean?

The PROFINET connection between the PLC and the specified device ({Name}) could not be established within the configured timeout period. This can be caused by an excessively low bus timeout setting, a mismatch between the controller and PLC configurations, or a defective PROFINET device, preventing proper operation.

Common Causes

  • A connection could not be established between the PLC and the device.
  • Incorrect IP address, subnet mask, or port configuration.
  • Network infrastructure issues or firewall blocking communication.
  • Device not powered on or not accessible on the network.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Increase the 'Bus timeout' parameter setting in the PROFINET configuration on the robot controller (refer to Page 18) to allow more time for connection.

  2. 2

Verify that the PROFINET device configuration in WorkVisual on the robot controller matches the PROFINET configuration loaded in the PLC for device {Name}.

  3. 3

Perform diagnostics on the PROFINET device {Name} itself, potentially replacing it if internal faults are detected.
