This fault typically occurs in position control applications and indicates that the internal position counter or angle calculation has overflowed or reached an invalid state, making accurate position detection impossible. This could be due to excessive speed, incorrect scaling, or feedback issues. By default, this critical condition triggers a full TRIP, inhibiting all ignition pulses and resetting the Ready signal, as accurate position is lost. Manual reset is required.

Verify the actual encoder pulses per revolution (PPR) from the encoder datasheet and compare with P5-02 (Encoder resolution).
Check for mechanical play or slippage between the encoder shaft and the motor/load.
Monitor encoder signal A and B on an oscilloscope at the drive's encoder input terminals (e.g., X4) for consistent square waves.
Review P5-05 (Position scaling numerator) and P5-06 (Position scaling denominator) for appropriate values based on application mechanics.
Execute a controlled motion profile and observe the drive's internal position counter (e.g., parameter P4-01) for anomalous increases.
