Pt5

Parameter Transfer Time Error

Lenze · 8200 Series

What does Pt5 mean?

A time error occurred during parameter set transfer, meaning the data flow from the keypad or PC was interrupted (e.g., keypad removed). This incomplete transfer can leave parameters in an undefined state, preventing correct operation. Operating with partially transferred parameters can cause erratic and dangerous behavior.

Common Causes

  • Communication cable disconnection or physical removal of the keypad during an active parameter transfer session.
  • Communication timeout due to excessive electrical noise on the data bus (e.g., RS-485, CANbus).
  • Software incompatibility between the programming tool (PC software, keypad firmware) and the controller's firmware version.
  • Insufficient power supply to the programming device or controller causing intermittent communication failures.
  • Corrupted parameter file being uploaded, leading to data validation errors and transfer stoppage.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Ensure the communication cable (e.g., RJ45, USB) is securely connected to both the controller and the programming device (PC/keypad) before initiating transfer.

  2. 2

Confirm the programming software or keypad firmware version is compatible with the controller's firmware (check manufacturer's documentation).

  3. 3

Re-attempt parameter transfer with a known good backup file that has been verified for integrity.

  4. 4

Verify that the power supply to the controller is stable and within specified voltage tolerances during the transfer process.

  5. 5

Temporarily disconnect other communication devices or noisy equipment from the same network segment to reduce potential interference.
