Overtemperature in output stage

SEW Eurodrive · Drives

What does 11 mean?

The temperature within the inverter's output stage has exceeded its safe operating limit. This indicates potential overheating due to excessive load, high ambient temperatures, or insufficient cooling for the drive electronics.

Common Causes

  • Excessive ambient temperature around the MOVIMOT drive
  • Sustained overload condition on the motor, leading to higher inverter losses
  • Blocked or insufficient cooling airflow to the drive's heat sinks

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Inspect the drive's cooling fan for proper operation, obstructions, and unusual noises.

  2. 2

Clean the drive's heatsinks and ensure all ventilation openings are free of dust and debris.

  3. 3

Measure the ambient temperature inside the control cabinet at the drive's location and compare it to the drive's specified maximum operating temperature.

  4. 4

Verify the drive's programmed motor data and load-related parameters (e.g., nominal current, overload settings) against the actual motor specifications and application requirements.

  5. 5

Measure the actual motor current during a typical operating cycle and compare it against the motor's rated current and the drive's nominal output current.
