What does 51 mean?

A digital input that has been configured as an external fault input has become active. This means an external device connected to this input has signaled a fault condition to the frequency converter.

Common Causes

  • DC bus voltage exceeds the drive's maximum safe limit (e.g., P0205).
  • Regenerative braking energy too high for the DC bus to dissipate.
  • Line voltage surge during power-up.
  • Faulty braking resistor or chopper circuit.
  • Capacitor bank failure in the DC link.
