IGBT temperature (hardware)

Vacon · NX Liquid-Cooled Drive

What does 31 mean?

The IGBT Inverter Bridge overtemperature protection circuit has detected an excessively high short-term overload current, leading to a hardware-level temperature fault.

Common Causes

  • IGBT temperature sensor failure (hardware fault).
  • Overheating detected on the IGBT module.
  • IGBT temperature exceeding critical threshold (P1-20).
  • Poor heatsink contact or insufficient cooling.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Evaluate the actual motor loading and compare it against the drive's continuous and overload current ratings.

  2. 2

Verify the motor size and nominal current rating are appropriate for the drive's specified output capacity.
