Saturation Trip
Vacon · NX Liquid-Cooled Drive
What does 7 mean?
This fault signifies a critical issue such as a defective internal component or a short-circuit/overload condition in the brake resistor. This fault cannot be reset from the keypad, requiring a power cycle of the drive. If occurring with Fault 1, it suggests a motor cable or motor issue.
Common Causes
- Motor exceeds rated torque, causing current to reach saturation limits.
- Overload condition due to excessive mechanical load on the driven equipment.
- Incorrect motor sizing for the application, leading to continuous high current draw.
- Faulty motor winding or insulation failure causing increased current.
- Parameter P1-12 (Maximum Current Limit) set too low for operational demands.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Switch off all power to the AC drive at the main circuit breaker.
- 2
DO NOT RE-CONNECT POWER until further investigation.
- 3
If this fault occurred simultaneously with Fault 1 (Overcurrent), thoroughly inspect the motor cables and the motor for any damage or short circuits.
