F14.8

Signal level monitoring

SEW Eurodrive · MOVIDRIVE system

¿Qué significa F14.8 ?

An error occurred while monitoring the signal level from Encoder 2, where the signal vector exceeded its permitted limit. This could indicate an issue with the encoder's physical mounting position affecting its signal output or data integrity.

Causas comunes

  • Improper mechanical mounting or coupling of Encoder 2, causing excessive vibration or radial/axial runout (e.g., exceeding 0.1mm tolerance).
  • Intermittent electrical noise on the encoder signal lines, causing transient signal peaks that exceed the monitoring limits.
  • Degradation of the encoder's internal sensing elements (e.g., optical disk or magnetic ring), leading to inconsistent signal quality.
  • Incorrectly set monitoring limits (P3-63, P3-64) for the encoder signal levels within the drive, triggering the fault prematurely.

Pasos de reparación & Lista de verificación

Haga clic en los pasos para seguir su progreso.

  1. 1

Inspect the mechanical mounting of Encoder 2 for loose bolts, shaft misalignment, or worn coupling elements.

  2. 2

Capture the differential Sin/Cos signals from Encoder 2 at drive terminal X2 using an oscilloscope to analyze signal amplitude and quality during rotation.

  3. 3

Verify that drive parameters P3-63 (Signal level minimum) and P3-64 (Signal level maximum) are set appropriately for the Encoder 2 type.

  4. 4

Check the encoder housing and shaft for any signs of physical damage or foreign material ingress that could affect internal sensing.

  5. 5

Temporarily disable high-frequency noise sources (e.g., switching power supplies, solenoids) in the vicinity to rule out external interference.
