What does 26 mean?
The battery management system (BMS) or charger has identified a defect within one or more cells of the connected battery. This could indicate a severe internal issue such as a shorted cell, an open circuit cell, or significantly degraded capacity in a specific cell.
Common Causes
- An internal short circuit within a battery cell, leading to rapid self-discharge or localized heating.
- An open circuit within a cell or a faulty connection between cells.
- Significant imbalance in voltage or capacity degradation of a specific cell or cell group within the battery pack.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Immediately isolate the battery from the charger and any loads.
- 2
Use a battery diagnostic tool, if available, to identify the specific defective cell or cell group within the battery pack.
- 3
