No communication with battery
Fronius · Primo GEN24
What does 402 mean?
The Fronius Primo GEN24 208-240 inverter cannot establish communication with the connected battery system. This prevents the inverter from managing battery charging, discharging, and monitoring, rendering the battery inoperable.
Common Causes
- No communication with the battery.
- Wiring fault (e.g. incorrect or loose cable, crossed data lines).
- Battery not powered.
- Incorrect battery address or settings.
- Battery system internal fault.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Verify all communication cables between the Fronius Primo GEN24 208-240 inverter and the battery management system (BMS) are correctly wired and securely connected.
- 2
Ensure the battery system is powered on and its internal status indicators are normal.
- 3
Check the communication settings (e.g., Modbus address, CAN bus settings) in the inverter's user interface to ensure they match the battery system's configuration.
- 4
Inspect the communication cable for physical damage or breaks.
- 5
Perform a power cycle of both the inverter and the battery system to attempt to re-establish communication. Consult the battery manual for proper shutdown/startup procedure.
