Motor Phasing Reversed
Kone · Frequency Inverter
What does 16 mean?
This error indicates that the motor phases are connected in a way that causes the motor to rotate in the opposite direction than commanded, or the drive detects an incorrect phase sequence. This is typically a wiring issue between the drive and the motor.
Common Causes
- Incorrect connection of the motor phase wires (U, V, W) to the drive output terminals.
- Drive parameter setting for motor rotation direction is incorrect or mismatched with the application.
- If an encoder is used, its direction feedback may not correctly correspond to the motor's actual rotation direction.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Verify the physical connection of the motor phase wires (U, V, W) to the drive output terminals against the wiring diagram.
- 2
If the motor is running in the opposite direction, swap any two output phases (e.g., U and V) at the drive's output terminals to reverse the rotation.
- 3
Check and adjust the drive parameter for motor rotation direction, if such a setting is available.
- 4
If an encoder is used, ensure its feedback direction is consistent with the motor's rotation (refer to Error 14 for encoder direction issues).
