SA

Safety stop

Mitsubishi Electric · Mitsubishi FR-E800 Variable Frequency Drive

What does SA mean?

This alarm appears when the safety stop function is activated, resulting in the shutoff of the inverter's output. It signifies a protective measure triggered by an emergency stop device or a disconnection within the safety circuit.

Common Causes

  • External emergency stop button activated, interrupting safety input circuit.
  • Safety relay tripped due to activation of a safety device (e.g., light curtain, gate switch).
  • Safety input parameter (e.g., P3-01 to P3-08) misconfigured or receiving an unexpected signal.
  • Wiring fault in the safety chain, causing a break in the safety loop.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Verify the state of the external emergency stop device or safety relay contacts (e.g., measure voltage at input terminal STOA/STOB).

  2. 2

Inspect all safety chain devices (e.g., light curtains, door interlocks) for activation or damage.

  3. 3

Check inverter safety input parameter settings (e.g., P3-01 to P3-08) for correct configuration (e.g., Normally Closed, Normally Open).

  4. 4

Reset the safety circuit externally after resolving the trigger condition, then attempt to reset the inverter fault.

  5. 5

Measure continuity across safety input terminals to ensure proper closure or opening as expected by the safety circuit design.
