1508.7

FCS Check Error

Omron · MX2 Inverter RS-485 Connection Guide

What does 1508.7 mean?

This status bit, when active (1), indicates a Frame Check Sequence (FCS) error was detected in the received Modbus message. This means the integrity check (CRC16) of the received data failed, suggesting that the data frame was corrupted during transmission due to noise or mismatched communication settings, leading to unreliable data.

Common Causes

  • Electromagnetic interference (EMI) or noise on the communication line corrupting data bits during transmission.
  • Mismatched serial communication parameters (baud rate, data bits, parity, stop bits) between the SCU and the Destination Device.
  • Faulty or improperly shielded communication cable.
  • Incorrectly generated CRC16 by the transmitting device.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Verify all serial communication settings (baud rate, data bits, parity, stop bits) are precisely matched between the SCU and the Destination Device.

  2. 2

Inspect the serial communication cable for proper shielding, grounding, and routing. Ensure it is separated from power cables or motor leads.

  3. 3

Check the physical connections of the serial cable at the SCU and the Destination Device for secure and clean contact points.

  4. 4

Try reducing the communication baud rate if high noise is suspected to improve data integrity on the serial line.
