F2018

Device overtemperature shutdown

Bosch Rexroth · IndraDrive C Drive Controllers

What does F2018 mean?

The drive controller or associated power electronics have reached a critical internal temperature, triggering a safety shutdown to prevent damage. This is a severe thermal event.

Common Causes

  • Inadequate cooling for the drive due to blocked vents, fan failure, or high ambient temperature.
  • Sustained operation at or above the drive's rated output current.
  • Internal thermal sensor malfunction or incorrect reading.
  • Failure of internal cooling components.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Allow the drive controller to cool down completely before attempting to reset the fault.

  2. 2

Check the drive's cooling fan for proper operation. Verify airflow direction and ensure no obstructions in the heatsink or ventilation openings.

  3. 3

Measure the ambient temperature around the drive and ensure it is within the specified operating range.

  4. 4

Reduce the load on the drive if possible, or verify that the drive is correctly sized for the application's continuous and peak current requirements.
