Error supply shutdown
Bosch Rexroth · IndraDrive MPx02
What does F2840 mean?
An error occurred during the process of shutting down the power supply. This could indicate a problem with the controlled discharge of DC bus capacitors, a failure in the power-down sequence, or an inability to fully remove power. An uncontrolled shutdown can risk personnel safety or damage sensitive components.
Common Causes
- Fault in the power supply discharge circuit
- Failure of shutdown relays or contactors
- Incorrect shutdown sequence execution by firmware
- External fault preventing complete power removal
- Persistent voltage on critical components after shutdown command
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Verify the stability and integrity of the incoming AC supply voltage at the drive's input terminals throughout the power-down sequence.
- 2
Inspect all control wiring and connections (e.g., X10, X31/X32 connectors for STO/HSO) for loose terminals, damage, or contamination that could interrupt the shutdown signal path.
- 3
Check the drive parameters related to DC bus monitoring, discharge control, and power-down thresholds against the machine's commissioning documentation.
- 4
Safely measure and monitor the DC bus voltage discharge rate immediately after a shutdown command to identify any uncontrolled or abnormally slow/fast decay.
- 5
Inspect the external braking resistor (if connected) and its wiring for proper termination, resistance value, and absence of short or open circuits that could interfere with DC bus energy dissipation.
