3381

Output phase loss

ACS880 · Primary Control Program Firmware

What does 3381 mean?

The ACS880 drive detected a loss of one or more motor phases at its output. This indicates a problem with the motor wiring or the motor itself, leading to potential motor damage or irregular operation.

Common Causes

  • Motor cable insulation breakdown or an open circuit in one or more motor phases.
  • Loose connection in the motor power circuit at the drive output or motor terminals.
  • Failure within the motor windings (e.g., open circuit in a phase).
  • Incorrect setting of parameter 31.19 Motor phase loss, which dictates the drive's reaction to this condition.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Inspect all motor power cable connections (U, V, W) at both the drive and motor terminals for looseness, corrosion, or damage.

  2. 2

Measure the resistance between motor phases (U-V, V-W, U-W) to check for open circuits; values should be balanced.

  3. 3

Measure insulation resistance between each motor phase and ground, and between phases, using a megger (e.g., 500VDC) to check for ground faults or short circuits.

  4. 4

Verify parameter 31.19 Motor phase loss is correctly configured for the application; if set to 'Fault', ensure the motor and cabling are healthy.

  5. 5

If the motor is suspected to be faulty, disconnect it and test it independently or swap it with a known good motor for verification.
