Undervoltage

Undervoltage

ACS880 · Primary Control Program Firmware

What does Undervoltage mean?

The DC bus voltage of the ACS880 drive dropped below the minimum allowed limit. This typically indicates an issue with the incoming AC supply, which prevents proper rectification and DC bus maintenance.

Common Causes

  • Low incoming AC supply voltage, falling below the minimum operational threshold for the drive.
  • Loss of one or more phases of the incoming AC supply (supply phase loss).
  • Voltage sag or brownout conditions on the utility grid.
  • Loose connections or high resistance in the main power circuit leading to the drive.
  • Insufficient power supply capacity for the connected load.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Measure the incoming AC supply voltage on all phases at the drive input terminals (L1, L2, L3) and verify it is within specified limits.

  2. 2

Check for loose connections, corrosion, or damaged wiring in the main power circuit from the breaker/fuses to the drive's input terminals.

  3. 3

Inspect fuses and circuit breakers in the supply line to ensure they are not open or tripped.

  4. 4

Monitor the utility grid for voltage sags or interruptions, especially during periods of high load demand.

  5. 5

Ensure the supply transformer is adequately sized and configured for the drive and its load.
