13.24

Travel Range Exceeded

SEW Eurodrive · MOVIDRIVE system

What does 13.24 mean?

The drive's current position mode does not allow for movement beyond the configured travel range, indicating a limit has been reached. This prevents further machine movement, potentially causing operational halts if the system attempts to exceed its boundaries. If ignored, it can lead to repeated stops or inability to complete movements.

Common Causes

  • Physical end limit switch activated, stopping further movement, but the software limit (P2-05 or P2-06) is not configured correctly.
  • Position command (e.g., P2-02 target position) is outside the defined software travel limits (P2-05 upper, P2-06 lower).
  • Incorrectly set absolute home position (P2-03) leading to a misinterpretation of the current position relative to limits.
  • Drive attempting to move in a direction that is already at its configured software travel limit.
  • Mechanical obstruction preventing movement to the target, causing the drive to hit a physical limit before the software acknowledges it.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Verify the target position command (P2-02) is within the configured software travel limits (P2-05 upper limit, P2-06 lower limit).

  2. 2

Check the status of physical limit switches (e.g., X1/LS+ or LS-) and ensure they are not inadvertently activated.

  3. 3

Review and re-set the home position (P2-03) using the defined homing routine to ensure accurate zero reference.

  4. 4

Temporarily increase the software travel limits (P2-05, P2-06) by a small margin and attempt movement to confirm if limits are the cause.

  5. 5

Inspect the mechanical system for any obstructions or binding that might prevent the axis from moving freely within its expected range.
