F14.11

Data timeout

SEW Eurodrive · MOVIDRIVE system

What does F14.11 mean?

Encoder 2 has failed to provide process data within the expected timeframe, resulting in a data timeout. This typically points to communication issues caused by electromagnetic interference (EMC) or incorrect startup parameters.

Common Causes

  • Intermittent disconnection, open circuit, or damage in the Encoder 2 communication cable.
  • Excessive electromagnetic interference (EMI) on the Encoder 2 communication lines disrupting data packet transmission.
  • Faulty Encoder 2 hardware failing to generate process data or respond to controller requests.
  • Incorrect communication parameters (e.g., baud rate, data length) configured in the drive for Encoder 2.
  • Unstable or insufficient power supply to Encoder 2 (e.g., voltage below 20VDC) causing intermittent resets.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Inspect Encoder 2 communication cable for physical damage and verify all connections are secure at terminals (e.g., X12).

  2. 2

Measure the supply voltage to Encoder 2 (e.g., between terminals A+ and A-) to confirm it is stable and within specified range (e.g., 24VDC +/-10%).

  3. 3

Check the drive's parameter settings for Encoder 2 communication (e.g., P6-01 Encoder type, P6-02 Data rate).

  4. 4

Verify the cable shielding integrity by checking continuity between the shield and protective earth at the control cabinet.

  5. 5

Temporarily reroute the encoder cable or isolate high-power cables running in parallel to reduce potential EMI sources.
